"A Society Scandal".

This black and white movie of 1924 was renamed "Scancale!" in Europe.
American actress

Gloria Swanson (Chicago, Illinois,1899 - New York, 1983) who played Marjorie Colbert, was

destined to be one of the most famous and highly paid stars of the silent movie era of

Hollywood. In 1919 she joined Cecil B. DeMille's team and soon rose to major stardom. She

did not less than 5 movies in the same year (1924).
This silent movie was directed by

Allan Dwan, one of the film industry's true pioneers.

Strangely enough the

movieposter featured Swanson in a oriental dancers' dress although the movie had nothing to

do with dance at all. Maybe it had something to do with movieposter artist Julien 't Felt

his affection for depicting dancers.
