"Une Almé", a litho after a painting of Edouard De Biefve. This Egyptian singer caused quite a stir at the Brussels Salon in 1842 because viewers found the theme too sensual. It was the picture of Ansak, a big star in the 19th century.
The son of sultan Nâfir had the most beautiful and famous singer of her time, Ansak, overloaded with pearls and precious stones. Ansak had her hair adorned with precious pearls given to her by her admirers as she had been the beloved of 3 sultans.
