Dance from Armenia.
Armenian folk dance is part of an old and still living tradition which has changed a great deal and will continue to do so, absorbing new influences and itself influencing others like contemporary belly-dance. Mainly due to the Armenian diaspora in the world.

Some of the dances of Armenia go back to the Assyrians.
One of the dances is a movement called Shoror or candle dance, which means "to sway". The subtle swaying of the hands, showed on the picture is symbolic for the infinity of life or creation. This dance links it to the other dances featured in this series on dances of the silk road.
